The focus of this program is on developing practical skills in combination with creative thinking in the context of games and coding. You will have the opportunity to work on real industry projects to develop a professional creative identity.

The program focuses primarily on the artistic aspects of game design, covering concept art, illustration, storyboarding, design, digital sculpting, 3D computer modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, and animation. The course also provides an insight into the professional practice of game design through practical demonstrations, research and theory-based study. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of sources and topics that influence their development, and to experience a variety of teaching methods such as formal lectures, team teaching, practical demonstrations and tutorials to enhance their learning experience.

The HND in Computer Game Animation provides education and training in the theory and practice of computer game animation, essential for careers in computer game design and development, 3D design and 2D and 3D computer animation. You will use industry standard software such as Games Salad, Adobe Creative Suite, Maya 3D, Unity.

What is the structure of the course?

Year 1 courses cover foundational aspects of computer game design, including studies in computer game theory, research techniques, drawing for concept art, practical design skills, contextual studies, and digital graphics and animation. In Year 2, the focus shifts to advanced topics such as career development, specialized investigations, 3D game engines, project design and evaluation, environment creation, CGI rendering and lighting, as well as advanced 3D character animation techniques.
